So I guess I've kind of disappeared for the last few months.. I guess I just got busy with life and put my shop and especially my blog on the back burner.  Just to fill you in I have a full time job at CVS that keeps me pretty tied up, I also am a math tutor, and a swim instructor at the Y.  I've been preparing for grad school and also trying to support my boyfriend's band Rory Kelly's Triple Threat.  So saying I've been keeping myself busy is a bit of an understatement.  Also, I gotta have a life you know?  Well anyways, over the summer I made a few sales which I think were out of pure luck considering I have done nothing as far as promotion.  All I've really done for my shop since last spring is make a new banner and make a few new creations.  Every time I would start working on something I had to cut it short to go do something else.  Now with starting grad school in the spring I am afraid I won't have time for this at all.. what a bummer.  Wouldn't it be nice if I really could quit my day job and just work from home.  I can't even imagine how awesome my site would be if I could put 40 hours into it every week.  Well so with everything going on I've neglected my site a bit and now I'm hoping that I can get the ball rolling again.  Even if I just allot 2 hours a week I'm sure things will look better that they have been.

Mother's day is just around the corner

The looming question in the May air is What do I get mom for mother's day? Any ideas of what to get mom yet?  There's always the basic items.. I've finally put up another item.. I have been slacking off a little bit lately because Etsy is just so time consuming.  It's crazy how much time I put into the website and I still have a long ways to go before seeing profit.  I made 2 sales in less than a week which was very exciting because they were the first headbands I sold.  Finding my target audience is so hard and I don't really know how to subtly market without being spammy.  If someone feels like they're being spammed then they will never buy from you.  The internet is so huge it's hard to be seen in the great ocean of it all.  Hard to stay afloat as well.. If any of you have suggestions on how to reach your target audience feel free to comment, or share your experiences of having a shop online.

Yay!  I feel like I have spent all weekend working on Etsy, but barely got anything done.  I did manage to make a treasury for the CEFP Team  that I just joined which got to be number one on the treasury list!  That was super exciting because I have never got a lot of views on anything.  Classic Romance

Pictures, New Year, Blog 01.06.11

Well since my last post I have learned some stuff about blogging. It's actually pretty simple to get everything where you want it, but I didn't know what was really available until I played with it all. So now I have some pages.. well a page, and I know how to change my design and everything. I still haven't had any luck in the sales department, but I am a patient and persistent person so I have hope. I got some good constructive criticism from an Etsy chatroom the other day about the photographs of my products. Natural light makes a HUGE difference. So, I am slowly retaking pictures and posting new pics of all my items whose pics aren't so fantastic. It takes a while though, to get just the right lighting and all that for each item and at each angle. Plus having the background right is pretty difficult too since I don't have a backdrop or anything. When I put the items on there I figured as long as it represents what you are selling correctly then it's fine, but having the pic be visually appealing and stand out from the other products on Etsy is crucial. People aren't going to search specifically for your item EVER so it is very important for the buyer to see your item instead of it getting lost in the sea. My new years resolutions for Bustling Blossoms are to 1. Re-do all my crappy pics; 2. Create a treasury; 3. get more involved through Etsy and other websites to get my shop seen; and 4. Get enough items (and organize them) to be able to set up a booth at a craft show or Bele Chere... Well we shall see what happens!!
